Down on the Farm in Wyoming
Updated: 6 days ago
Just an hour south of Jackson, Wyoming -- and on the way to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks -- is a hidden gem called Shumway Farms. Nestled in the picturesque Star Valley region, in the small town of Afton, WY, this family-owned 6th-generation farm is a slice of heaven.
Owner Jody Shumway warmly greets visitors to their 300-acre dairy farm that's also run by several of Jody's sons including Joseph, Jon and Jacob. They produce farm-fresh ice cream, amazing Icelandic skyr yogurt (the super thick and creamy kind), raw milk products and grass fed and finished meats.
You can buy all of their products right at their farm store. We tried their huckleberry and Rocky fields ice cream, coconut sorbet, their lemon and coconut Icelandic skyr yogurt and their beef sirloin steak. So good!
And the fun part is that they let RVers stay overnight on their property and you get to help feed the calves and piglets. They have cows, horses, calves, lambs, piglets and their super friendly farm dogs Molly & Bear. Turns out Molly is just as much of a ball hog as our Buddy! This is a great stop anytime of year.
